Hungry. Hungry, hungry, hungry. She’d been rampaging for hours through a disappointingly empty city with not even as much as a grocery store to show for it, let alone any tinies to snack on. Whether they’d heard her coming and all left or were hiding somewhere underground she didn’t care, all she knew was that if she didn’t get anything to eat besides a few handfuls of empty cars soon, she’d go nuts!
With drooped ears and her stomach roaring for food, the coyju gritted her teeth and tore down the nearest skyscraper she could see with a flurry of punches and stomped off through the quiet, empty streets in search of some kind of worthwhile snack. They had to be somewhere in this city; she’d destroyed enough of them to know that all the tinies couldn’t leave in a matter of hours, or even days! Even so, who would want to run anyway? If there was one thing she learned about all the littler people, is that they were almost always so happy for her to come and rampage through their cities; after all, why else would they always run out in big groups in the street and cheer her on? Remmyzilla soon slowed her destructive stroll, realization hitting her like a rocket punch from a giant fighting robot.
“…The tinies aren’t ready for me to rampage here yet!”
Of course! It was so simple and so obvious! The empty streets and buildings, the shocking lack of any electricity running to any of the skyscrapers she’d already knocked down…It could all mean one thing and one thing only: she was too early! Giggling with embarrassment over her blunder, she turned to tip-toe back out the way she came, hunger forgotten at least momentarily as the need to find any hiding tinies and apologize for her mistake came first!
Jared sighed, glancing over at the heavy, steel doors blocking off the entrance to the mountainside subway tunnel he and thousands of other citizens had been hiding in for the past few days. Credit where credit was due, the monster early-warning system had done an admirable job in giving them all enough time to evacuate before the earth-shaking booms of the monster’s footsteps started rumbling through the city. On and off they’d hear the muffled sound of a roar, perhaps a distant crash and crunch of toppling buildings being ground to dust beneath paws large enough to engulf homes beneath a single toe, but deep within the dark confines of the tunnel, it was all so, well, dull! Even the near-constant rhythm of Remmyzilla’s ceaseless stomping had become mundane by now, so much so that neither he, nor anyone else, seemed to notice as the muffled thuds steadily grew in power.
The illusion shattered soon enough. A terrific groaning and crashing as claws tore through the several feet of hardened steel that held them all safe snapped the crowds out of their bored stupor and locked all into fearful attention. The ivory daggers pulled out of the jagged holes they tore, flooding the tunnel with streaks of blinding sunlight before the door was snapped off its hinges and flung aside. Thousands of people shielded their eyes from the tremendously bright light that rushed inside, stumbling around too dazed to begin to panic. Quickly the yellow glow of the afternoon sun faded to shadow as the monstrous beast’s snout descended in front of the entrance, bathing the tunnel then in a toxic green glow as her eye narrowed and peered inside. A rumbling, thunderous giggle roared out, echoing off the rounded walls of the tunnel as her smile slowly spread into a toothy, hungry grin.
“Sorry for showin’ up too early, tinies! You guys should really put out a sign sayin’ the city isn’t ready for rampaging next time though, ya know?“ She giggled, smiling as sweetly as she thought she could at the huddling groups of tinies all together in the tunnel before her. "I’ll be back in like, I dunno, a week I guess? That work for you guys? It does? Awesome! Seeya later, tinies!” With a cheerful roar and a friendly wave, the coyju lept to her feet and padded away, tails wagging briskly and the earth shaking heavily beneath her.
