Standing seven to eight feet tall and covered in soft chitin-like armor, this creature looks almost like a cross between an insect and a dragon. Often mistaken for demons, Zylgha are a predatory alien species from another universe.
They are almost never encountered outside of their own universe, due to their lack of technology or magical abilities. Although they are extremely primitive - technologically speaking - and barely use tools, Zylgha are highly intelligent creatures and, given enough time, can learn to utilize most of what's available to them.
Although every Zylgha is female, they are not asexual. Rather, they reproduce sexually by mating with the males of other species, but their offspring are always Zylgha and inherit very little from their fathers. How they acquire mates tend to vary from individual to individual, some simply rape their prey, while others seek mates whom may also serve as long-term companions.
A Zylgha is capable of creating "living zombies" with her ice-pick-shaped stinger. She does this by first injecting a creature with a potent paralytic venom which temporarily renders it completely helpless. In this state the victim is still conscious and fully aware, but unable to move, speak, or scream. The Zylgha then carefully inserts her stinger under the upper eyelid and against the top of the eye socket. Then she drives her stinger through the thin layer of bone and into the brain, where the Zylgha makes several cuts and injects a large dose of her venom. This procedure reduces the victim to a childlike mentality, makes it more controllable, and completely destroys its self-preservation instinct.
The zombies of a Zylgha serve a variety of purposes. They can be her slaves and serve her every whim, they can be hosts for her young, or they can serve as sources of food.
They are very particular about only eating fresh meat, and they often go so far as to munch on their slaves or eat paralyzed prey alive.
A Zylgha posses a crop-like organ which produces a substance similar to honey, except less viscous. She uses this "honey" to feed others, usually her slaves and children, by regurgitating it into their mouths.
Zylgha are only capable of behaving morally towards their friends and family, and they are completely amoral towards anyone or anything beyond this social circle. A Zylgha is the sort of creature that might casually steal from a stranger in order to give a gift to a friend, or ruthlessly murder a companion's enemy in an attempt to cheer them up.
