CHAPTER 2

She moved further away, hoping to distance herself as much as she could from the fossils, lest she absorb more of them. It did nothing to ease the cramps in her hands and feet. The pulsing feeling was in fact becoming stronger. She readied her weapon to shoot the fossils and hopefully stop what was happening, but felt her hand force itself open. The Paralyzer fell away to the ground and skittered. Samus did not move to pick it up, her concern was more focused on what was beginning to happen to her hand. She watched it spasm and grow until it tore right through her suit. Shocked to see that four of her digits had begun to fuse into a pair of claws to match what had already happened to her thumb. Dark blue scales lined up as a protective coating shortly after.

The visual aspect of the change was so gripping that Samus did not even notice similar changes occurring to her feet. A clawed foot had already burst through while the other bulged and pressed against the suit's confines. Distressed even further, Samus failed to notice more flakes break off from the fossil and permeate the exposed parts of her changing body.

She quickly snapped herself back into reality. Realizing that she needed to put as much distance between herself and the fossils as she could before they became more drastic, or even permanent.......
