It could be awkward at times. There's a blog that has a (very snarky) summary of the campaign and the 4th wall jabs at the "This makes no sense" and "Why don't they just do X?" things - as well as several references to Warcraft 3 - aside, it's a very accurate summary. More than once they question why the hecc the dragons they worship just sit around and do nothing barring a few times when plot demands they step in for like one second (A particularly bad example was Arkath getting involved just long enough to confirm Rolf's a traitor and kick off one hell of a random and sort of messed up sequence that came out of nowhere, then he vanishes again)
Why doesn't he help out, when the world is at stake and they're literally there to protect it? The game never says. Plot I guess, but in a way I guess they are helping since you DO have his children at your disposal (These guys you drew here) and heavens knows what they're doing behind the scenes. Then we have to remember that the demons they're fighting have their own dragon they're following and he's *much* higher up in the ranks than Arkath and Elrath are. Plus there could be some weird arse 'rules' preventing them from getting involved or some such thing, but I guess fan interpretations like this is what makes the world more fun haha
Aumm, I went off on a bit of a ramble there I'm sorry~ I've actually just started replaying the game after like ever (It's sooo much fun and I love the creature designs hnn) I might play Heroes 3 or 4 next, probably 4 first since I never really finished any of its campaigns and save 3 for last. Really good game even today, but it definitely shows its age at times (Creature Dwellings not accumulating is the worst thing ever, for serious!). Them campaigns can be kinda brutal, especially in the base game and 1st expansion since you're not allowed to choose your difficulty level. Hard as heck map? HERE, HAVE IMPOSSIBLE DIFFICULTY ON TOP OF THAT! RIP you if your main hero doesn't have Town Portal.
I kinda miss the critters from that game too... Some of them returned for Heroes 4 and 5, but sometimes only in name. The alt-upgrade for the Green Dragons, the "Crystal Dragon" isn't anything like the Heroes 3 one, and the Heroes 4 Faerie Dragon got nerfed when it was made a faction unit rather than a neutral one. The super-OP Azure Dragon's nowhere to be found... Rust Dragons were pretty cool, but the Faerie and Azure Dragons were my fav. Shame you rarely ever got to have the Azures on your side haha
http://heroesinanutshell.blogspot.c.....r-1-queen.html Is that summary by the way. "To Honor Our Fathers" is particularly bad IMO, but Tribes of the East was a decent expansion otherwise - I liked the alternate upgrade mechanic, and it introduced these handsome lizards too ^^

Yeah ;v;
Some of the names were re-used, liek the Crystal Dragon, but it just wasn't the same~
Seems the Heroes series has been put to Sleep now though, after 6 was a failure and 7 didn't do much better :(
Oh well.... At least we can still play the games we liked, and draw the monsters we fell in love with ^v^
