"...Aurorae this bright? There must be a solar flare... the geomagentic storm's more intense than I've ever seen. Wonder what it's reaching on the scale..." the brown-scaled kobold mused, staring intently up into the brightly-lit night sky.

"Mmmm... yeah, thats... what in the sky is what it is..." the blue-scaled kobold muttered, shivering slightly in the chill air. The toad in the nook of his elbow croaked in mild protest, but responded more to the cold than to the incredible display of shifting lights in the sky. "S-shiny... a-and, erm..." he gulped. "In... in the... it's out in the, dangerous. In the Beyond...?"

The oddly-placed inflections in his words petered out; the shapes and syllables of the common-tongue were foreign to his lips.

The brown-scale smiled. "Just as well we're not flying today. Hopefully the radiation levels will have dropped before the launch window... we'll just stay in low orbit until it passes. Shouldn't be long... shouldn't be long..."
