Which would make most of the proposed legislation ridiculous, especially the idea of background checks on those who buy ammo.
I'm all for reporting those convicted of any type of violent crime or anyone diagnosed with a severe mental disorder to the authorities to prevent them from obtaining a firearm, but anything which gets in the way of an existing owner of firearms? Absurd.

Precisely! But criminals are exempt from registration, as it's self-incrimination, and mental patients have privacy from HIPAA to be reported for being a nutcase; any of the supposed "common sense" schemes are simply to keep those who are abiding by the laws from doing what they'd like to do.
I had the grips on my 225 swapped out with checked rosewood. The only set they made. I fact, when I asked for the grips they originally said it was only in the catalog, but they had never made any. They made a special set and had them shipped to my smith. He had to chisel the insides because they didn't cut out enough for them to fit properly. I promptly took the 225 out on the range and started shooting competition stance which freaked out the guy who was monitoring.
