This is the first personal project I have been able to pop off since I started my college classes. It involves my take on the mana dragon known as flammie, in the middle of running.
I have seen plenty of art of flammie flying, and bits and pieces of the creature at rest, but you never see some of it walking, running, swimming, or other modes of locomotion. I imagine this is because the movement of the creature would seem less graceful, and more awkward. In this case, I imagine the critter galumphing along much like a ferret, wildcat, or other long bodied, quadrupedal creature might do, while keeping its wings mostly tucked, with some slight flaring for side-to-side balance.
Heh... heh.... hmm. Well, unfortunately, when I shared this with my college mates, the first thing they did was gripe that its eyes were too large: not realistic at all, then proceeded to wander off in the other direction, talking about the amateurism of anime and furry artwork. needless to say, I found this all less than encouraging. But I guess... I just get to choose whether to make them happy, or myself.
I like fantasy artwork. I like bright colors, non-grungy, gritty environments, and idealistic creatures. so sod them. If it means I am amatuerish, and thus unlikely to be hired as a professional graphic designer... (sigh) well, I didn't expect to be the very best in a highly competitive market anyway. Might as well still enjoy the work I do.

Indeed, all the things are being with the doings. I am more Hermity then ever lately, but am going to try easing back into electronic interaction.
And by the by, thanks much for the compliment, and the support: really do appreciate that you've been here for me for so long. I hope things are going well for you:)

Thank you much for your compliment :)
You know what was worst? the guy who was criticizing me the most decided to pull up a picture of an anthropomorphic tiger... and it was absolutely gorgeous, and his work.
Meh, the instructors tell me you can't have a thin skin to work in this field: people apparently bash each others work regularly. So... other then the jealousy regarding the guy's skill, I've forgiven and forgot :>

Glad you like it, Crissa :)
I was reminded of the teasing I used to do for the "my little pony" show to my friend, Kitnoki (a major fan of the show) by saying that with the size of their eyes, the eyeballs themselves would be rubbing against each other all the time. I would tease that, with so much eye and so little brain, it's no wonder they have problems on the show.
That said, that teasing is the sort of thing me and kit do back and forth: She knows I have no dislike for the show, and hell, have done a couple pieces related to it... just that sort of biting humor that good friends can do without upsetting one another.
That said, the criticism did make me take a second look at the eye to skull ratio... Could the orbs that fill those sockets actually fit, geometrically as well as biologically? Flammies have large eyes, true, but I am working towards making them more anatomically viable (sort of like making garfield into a real cat, I suppose) While still keeping that cute charm that they have. So maybe I'll make them smaller next time. Maybe. And if so, only a bit, for the sake of pulling fantasy and reality a little closer together ;)
