Simon of Bedford (Sketch)
I've actually been on this site for a while, but today- out of nowhere- came a modest chorus of affection and praise for the character depicted in my icon. Then I realized I didn't have a picture of him worth displaying.
An hour of doodling later, and here we are. Presenting: Simon of Bedford.
Created for a pen-and-paper game that passed through several editions and is now on indefinite hiatus, Simon was the party's front-line fighter. Shipwrecked in a faraway land and trying to return home with finances for his expecting wife, he also became the group's voice of reason, the 'face' for when diplomacy was needed, and- most of all- the group's extraordinarily-talented cook.
In case it isn't obvious, he was also my love letter to the Burmecians of Final Fantasy IX. In the campaign he made a weapon of his wrecked ship's notched anchor cable (see: Spiked Chain) but is depicted here wielding his wife's old grain fauchard.
Now maybe I'll have the excuse to update my icon as an encore.
