I was chatting with
mulefoot one day and he spoke about how he was going to paint a coyote of ink and shadows. I absolutely loved the idea because it was one I'd had many times before myself and I am in love with the wispy, ethereal and powerful image of a wall of smoke or a haze of mist swirling and reaching, transforming into the powerful, lurking forms of some being(s). That was exactly the image I got after listening to Muley's idea.
This is the finished painting for my idea. I really liked how this turned out. I did a bit more exploring with my inks. This is Indian ink with some light white acrylic washes all hand painted on watercolor paper. I liked this so much I want to revisit the idea in the near future and develop a bit more of a full scene and a more dramatic presence for the emerging beasts. I'm also really into the idea of trying my first ever triptych. (OMG lurv <3), so I might think of a way to work that into it. I think I'm getting drawn to Asian art scrolls which I think I want to work into it. I think I can blame Okami and the Korean/Chinese art exhibits at the art museum at school. =P

mulefoot to check out his, it turned out very nice and it's extremely cool to see the differences in interpretation and expression of a similar idea.

Thanks! I did have trouble and had to go over them a few times to get them solid and then found that adding the white between them at the tops made the contrast really pop them out while their "bases" made them fit together. So it ended up pretty well. I think I might try to find a way to matte these and put them in the art show for Rainfurrest.
