I wanted to make a biker vest for this Halloween and it turned out better than I though it would. Pretty convincing especially taking a couple of steps back. I recycled the Machete vest I made last year and modified it by removing the knives and adding the patches.
Originally I had a different, more elaborate costume in mind but due to the lack of time and the costume party at work being canceled, I I went with one of my more simpler backup plans since the workplace stilling encourage people to dress up and I wanted to do something at least passable.
Normally I'll design each of the patches myself but because of the rush, I just gathered some images on the web and printed them out on a sheet of paper (the rear ones I made almost all from scratch). Cutting them out was a bit of a pain especially the dragon one on the upper right (my fav of course). I used double-sided Scotch tape to attach the items.
I think it worked overall. Hopefully the patches will survive being worn all day (well, half day as I have to leave a little early on the big day). Having them tearing off is my biggest fear. I'll just have to be careful with them.
What inspired me was the biker shootout at the parking lot at Twin Peak in Waco, TeXaS. I had the idea of putting on a bullet hole makeup to the head but nixed that due to being a bit too much for work. Oh well, even toned down, I think it is edgy enjoy do the shootout having not too long ago.

Thanks. I pretty much fit them somewhat randomly, getting them all to fit. I think I did well considering the rush job as my other ideas didn't pan out. Disappointing that only one other person bothered dressing up last year. I hope the upcoming Halloween will have more participants at work like years past but we shall see. Of course I still plan to do something but I have no idea. Maybe resurrect my cyborg costume from servals years back. Even though it was a big hit, I had so much ideas for it and never did finish it the way I wanted.
They are not exactly real patches, just paper cutouts stuck on with double-sided tape. Looked real enough for the quick costume, got the job done. I already peeled them off in case I want to repurpose the vest for a future idea. They was starting to peel off by the end of the day anyway especially the big one of the back. The tape did mar the painted vinyl I used in a few places but not too bad.
So far I used the vest in my Machete costume and the biker one. No sure what else I'll use it for but I am something would come up.

I only wore it for Halloween and already took the patches off as they was tearing and such. I probably repurpose it for another costume in the future. I used it for my Machete getup prior. Maybe I can use to as 80's rocker vest with band patches or something along with those lines. I do want to go in another direction for this year but coming up dry. I should already start on it but been so busy. It looks like yet another crunch-time job.
