hey, Hay, shake them bones!
Day of the Dead (actually two days, Nov. 1 and 2) will arrive right on Halloween's heels this weekend.
the idea of a holiday to celebrate one's beloved, departed folks in a joyful way really appeals to me.
it's a very sweet thing. I love the imagery and history that surround it, too.

it was raining so hard at some times that I had to drive slowly to be safe,
because the water was gathering on the highway enough to cause hydroplaning,
(tires "ski" atop the water instead of keeping traction and contact with the road surface)
and it was impossible to see exactly where the water was deep enough for it.
about the only thing I hate more of weather than dealing with hydroplaning
is the very similar but much worse... driving roads with black ice (invisible, very slick).
