It's a neat idea :) It does indeed look like a page discovered from an old manuscript - I like that sort of thing and this is nicely done :)

If you REALLY wanted to make it genuinly look like what you described (the discovery from a long dead explorer), you could draw small, random things that have to do with the dragon, like a detailed close-up of a scale, what the wings look like, maybe even what kind of breath attack it may have. And underneath all these smaller drawings, have a small, brief note about that certain thing.
Eh, ignore me. I'm just rambling. But if you like the idea, try to find the book of Dragonology. It can definately give you some ideas. :)
