The concept for this three part series was that Draconis' goat character was hitting on Wheredeer's character Kare, who is a sun priestess/diety. Annoyed at this insult, Kare reforms the goat into something closer to her image - Round, haloed, and with belly runes - to serve the temple.
The temple in question is based heavily on Angkor Wat, as Wheredeer desired architecture similar to Mesoamerican but with an Asian look. I suggested Angkor Wat, which has architecture that fits that description pretty well. I had several pics up when drawing and planning this pic up, which I recommend when drawing any background.
Kare's halo is of course shamelessly appropriated from Christian religious iconography, rather than using the stock 'ring above the head' look. This was mainly because I go for a sort of representational look with my backgrounds, with flat perspective and such, but as Wheredeer pointed out the round look also sort of accentuates the round nature of the characters in the series.
