I felt like drawing some random things, so I drew them. I was partially playing with the idea of making Pokémon-like things, but messing around with fauna from all across the world, particularly the kind of stuff that is super important locally but which tend to get ignored in games like that.
So the top one is based on a Tibetan yak, and the little dangly things are crystals (it was intended as Normal/Rock). The bottom two form a chain based on a type of leafhopper that is local (here in the US Midwest). The leafhopper this was based on tends to be pretty brightly colored and I was planning on giving it a pattern but I could not come up with something. Also, the nymphs are super adorable. Like, for real. I hope I did it some justice.
Also, since leafhoppers are hemipterans, it is taxonomically correct to call them bugs. Get your fill while the entomologists will not complain, or even mutter under their breath about it.
I have some more sketches like these but I have been doing them on a paper that smears super easily and scans really poorly (but which I have in vast amounts for practice), so the rate at which I post them is limited by when I feel like inking stuff. I can color these but this paper also does not scan well with color, though it looks fantastic in person, I promise.
Done with Micron pen. Some surprise there.
