There are many like them, but this one is mine.
This is not actually one of the official characters, but actually another player's character. I was out of ideas for pictures and figured I'd get this instead. Presto!
The quarters of individual soldiers are private, but also extremely small and cramped even before the dresser and bed get put in there for them. It's a deliberate design to give them privacy when necessary but to otherwise encourage them to get out of their rooms - usually to the provided common-rooms, which are much more expansive, and have a TV, vending machines, lots of cushions, and a wireless Planetary Relay access point. The idea is that by getting people out and into the common-room together they will talk to one another and bond, as Malgraan squads are very strong based on the friendship and bonding between the units in them.
There are other similar facilities at any given base too; there will be a gym with multiple sets of equipment so that like-minded fitness buffs can train together or have friendly competitions, firing ranges with the same principle, and cafeterias where the squads will eat together. Larger and fancier facilities might also have open spaces for the Balloh to practice their arts (and for others to watch), swimming pools (obviously absent on a planet like Araniir where water is precious), and shops selling odds and ends that the soldiers might want to pass the time or satisfy their vices. And the surrounding civilian areas may offer bars, clubs and other venues for entertainment where groups can go together.
Still, sometimes people just want a bit of time alone (or with one other person), and their quarters will suffice for that. It's also a good place to stash things like snacks you don't want other people getting at or other personal items. Because sometimes you just want to relax with a good book.
