This is really good!!! How long did this take you to make?

took me overnight to make his model, a day to setup the loop animation, and 12.5 hours to render, but within a stretch of a month ^^;;

You did a really good job with the loop, it looks like its not once bounce, it looks like 2. And you did a really good job with the highlight and the balloon bounce physics. All around great job, I look forward to any more work you make :3

how'd you do the squish for the balloon?

It's just cloth physics, i made sure to stick some of the balloon's vertices to the ground so it didn't slip from under xD

Hey, i know it's a bit late to reply to this. But i figured out why the gif was slowed down. It seems there was some delay on the gif, i saw that in the program "GIF Viewer" :)

It got back to normal speed, when i put the delay back to 0 from 50. :)

No joke, this is legitimately one of the best 3D balloon animations I have ever seen. Ever.

So smooth, in so many ways. It's mesmerising to watch. The reflections and shine are quite beautiful - I love especially how the reflection distorts around the paws. The bounce is perfect - very satisfying, with the response not being too lagged nor too damped. The motion of the character is very fluid, as well - I don't know exactly how you did it, but it's just the right balance between driven and resistive. The best part is that the loop is seamless without seeming forced. Combined with normal variations in speed as my computer displays it, it never seems to get old.

In short, this is the most perfect balloon animation I've found to date, and I absolutely love it <3

Is there any trick to getting the balloon to deform nicely as it's being contacted by the character? Is it automated somehow, is it hand-animated with blend shapes/morph targets, something in-between?
