This is more plausible than it sounds on the first look. This could be done by either our local animals setting up shop, or our local Barbarian Youth out for a vandal selfie. Rats and mice, rabbits and Australian frogs, and teenagers. The original WotW was written in 1898, by an Englishman and set in England. There are other, darker, meaner, less polite parts of our world... occupied by wet cats that no-one here is foolish enough to disturb!
