Hiddson: Hello and welcome once again to Bandits Breakdown! Your one stop shop for all things Las Vegas Bandits, I'm Brett Hiddson along with Terrence Thursday. Terry, the Bandits coming off a successful two game road trip come home trying to keep it going hosting an upstart Dons team trying to get a good start to the second half of the UFFL season.
Thursday: Yeah the big match up here is the Bandits secondary taking on one of the BEST passing attacks in the league with the Dons. Joe Bowers, showing no signs of slowing his status as an all pro QB despite his second season, and the weapons he has throwing to, all five of those receivers can be starters for the rest of the league making the other QB's envious of Bowers position and giving the defensive coordinators and defensive minded coaches absolute nightmares to plan against.
Hiddson: The Bandits will have to take on that explosive offense and they have shown they are by no means pushovers so far this season themselves. *cue highlights starting, it features the aforementioned Tiger QB, and all five of his receiving targets* But they would have their paws full with this bunch. Bowers, first quarter action from threatening in the red zone, and finds Charlotte Vorce the hyena back, who is more than making a name for herself in this league, for the 15 yard touchdown pass. Dons would lead 7-0. We move ahead to the second quarter, Bowers leading the Don's downfield once more as the Bandits unable to keep their offense on the field to limit the Dons time with the football. This time finding Mylene Jean, one of the many receivers Terry eluded to, 14-0 and the Dons are running a clinic.
Thursday: Yeah Brett, Bowers showing off his power arm and dagger sharp mind which was why they drafted him a season ago, having the timing and anticipation down with this monstrous offensive unit it's pick your poison if your the Bandits secondary and line backers right now. So difficult to contain them all.
Hiddson: But they manage to do so just enough to make the Dons settle for a field goal, Bandits offense needed to get going with their two minute offense after a nice return by Alcala. Stapler finds Harris he had 5 catches for 38 yards relatively, that one for nine yards. Later in the drive, Stapler finds Terry Paige on the checkdown... makes a guy miss.. and another with the stiff arm, and another with a juke move and he's got daylight with a foot race and nobody is going to chase him down as he turns a short pass to a 48 yard touchdown to get the Bandits on the board to end the half 17-7!
Thursday: Nice play by Mr. Paige there, showing off his skill set in that play alone the evasive ability to make defenders miss, the strength to over power others, and the speed to beat out the D in his big run in waning seconds of the half.
Hiddson: Third quarter action now and the Bandits with the ball, over 8 minutes left as Stapler leads with a nice dart to Roy Viridi-Aqua, 19 yard catch, his longest of the day. Then a four yard run for Stapler. 3rd and 6 Stapler with a high fly ball, and Renato Hanna comes up with it for 54 yards as Roy Chang saves the touchdown for now!
Thursday: Nice catch by Hanna there, one of the bigger plays for the afternoon as they try to fight their way back in this game. And Terry Paige to finish it off with a 3 yard run for the Touchdown. 17-14 Dons lead it.
Hiddson: The Dons knowing you can't let the Bandits, or any team hang around, cause they can bite you back if you let, fortunately for Dons nation, they would respond. After a roughing the passer penalty on Marcus Hopper, Bowers thanks him by dropping a 47 yard bomb for Koriun Masquarde to snatch away from Captain Quick, Coby Carson, he would save the touch down but Charlotte “Use the Vorce” cleans up with the easy touchdown run, Dons back up by two scores.
Fourth Quarter now... Carson and the Bandits punt unit to field the punt... Coby comes up with it has a few good blocks... looks like he has a lane and takes it, And they aren't gonna catch him! 30... 20... 10.. Touchdown Bandits! Carson with his second Punt return for the touchdown! Bandits back down by only 7, Terry.
Thursday: A great play by Captain Quick the main reason he's called that right here with such electric flat out speed and once he finds that lane, with a head of steam, good luck trying to catch that fennec fox.
Hiddson: And the Bandits fans are rocking and howling after that and wouldn't let up from there. So loud... but the Dons dealt with it fairly well.. Bowers...looking for Bart DeGuilhem and Intercepted by Dudley Doleman! And he's got room to run but wont make it to the endzone. A 61 yard interception return. And the Bandits would take advantage. Stapler jump ball for RVA. Caught! Touchdown Desert Desperadoes! 28-24 Bandits!
Thursday: Doleman with a great job reading the QB's eyes as a credit to his film studies, caught him staring down the tight end to continue the drive but Doleman sniffed it out and jumped the flat route too bad Bowers caught him at the last minute to prevent a possible pick 6 but the offense took care of the rest and get the first lead of the game.
Hiddson: And the Bandits would not look back 2nd and 14 after a false start call, Stapler trying to make up the penalty yards with a dime to Paige, and almost like lightning striking twice. Almost a repeat of the big run after the with a 59 yard catch for the score to put the nail on the coffin for the Dons chance at a comeback of their own.
Thursday: Another huge pass catch that should have been a short gain. But the defense couldn't bring him down and Paige makes them pay with another huge run after the catch.
Hiddson: 21 consecutive points in the Fourth Quarter to cap the game and Bandits win it 35-24! Stats for the key players. Sylvester Stapler with a nice day passing. 15-28 for 262 yards and 3 touchdowns and a 121. 4 passer rating. Bowers on the other side had another good day had it not been for the pick 24-36 for 366 yards and 2 touchdowns and an106.9 passer rating. Charlotte Vorce leading the way for the rushers with 25 carries for 96 yards while. Terry Paige a modest 16 carries for 63 yards and both with a rushing touchdown. For the receivers Korin Masquarde with 4 catches for 132 yards and a touchdown. While Roy Viridi-Aqua a modest 4 for 47 yards, with his own touchdown grab after Doleman's interception. But in terms of receiving Terry Paige stole the show with 2 catches for 107 yards and both for touchdowns. He's our player of the game. And what a great showing by the German Pinscher, Ter.
Thursday: Nothing short of a fantastic day and the willingness for him to step up and take over the game especially with two big catches changing them from a small gain to 6 points each time. He keeps this up, this team will be able to hang with any team in the league.
Hiddson: And is something Bandits Nation loves to hear. Time for a break but when we come back, Issabelle Holt will interview Paige, Stapler, Carson and the gang as well as post game pressers from Coach Erinia and a preview of the next pivotal match up with the Baltimore Ponies.
