Surprise! I drew my noodle dragon again - he's just chillin' up in the clouds being all elegant and swirly. I started sketching this at the start of this year to break in a new sketchpad but I ended up only working on it periodically over the months. Still, always happy to work on traditional art and especially so when it involves Ryuu.

Oh man oh man oh man, this seriously made me speechless. Heck, I don't even know where to start. If there was one piece to epitomise the absolutely glory that traditional art is, this is it. Aw jeez... Seriously, I just don't know what to say. Of all the wonderful pieces in your gallery, I seriously think this has just shot to the top spot. I love it that much.
This piece feels just so right. After all the sorts of situations I've seen Ryuu in, seeing him do what he does best (being an elegant, gorgeous dragon) is a huge breath of fresh air. I would seriously consider having this piece mounted on my wall. It's breathtaking.
Your traditional colouring is so, so good. The variation of tone combined with the scale definition is so effective. Yes, hats off to you for taking the time to define each scale. Goes without saying that this piece took you a lot of time and effort! I love that deep blue around his face. Shading can make a piece look really dark and gloomy but you keep everything so colourful and yet you hint at that depth really well. I don't know how on earth you do it. Every time I try using pens, I just make a big muddy mess on the page. I bow in your marker-whispering ability, haha! About the markers, even though Bristol board (I'm presuming you used it, being your canvas of choice?) is very smooth, the application of the pens has given it lovely texture all over. It's exciting. Everywhere I look on the piece, I can see an interesting bit of texture. That's looking at particular parts, though. My favourite areas have got to be the hind legs and the face; they're shaded and coloured to darn-near perfection. I'd suggest shading just a little behind his shoulder too, though, that's the only criticism I have regarding shading.
Anatomy is stunning as ever. You've got such an imaginative mind, being able to picture a mythical dragon and draw him so convincingly. How the perspective changes due to his body twisting is great, although on the curve below his head, it looks a fraction too big. I get that the direction of his body is going backward slightly ('into' the page) but it's something to think about for next time. It doesn't detract from the piece at all, so no worries whatsoever. ^^
Seriously, I want to stop writing and just admire this piece. My mind has gone completely off my work and straight to this. This is why I do traditional. I don't get this excitement with digital. My body is just tingling. You are just so unbelievably epic at this, I can't believe I get to call myself a traditional artist alongside artists as talented as you. Aw jeez... There are no more words. There are no more words.

I'd say that's the most logical solution - well, if magic can be counted as logic anyway! Either that or their butt is actually a rocket.
Saying that I'd love to see Ryuu try to do an epic take-off aeroplane style and smack face-first into a wall or something. He's...not really the best when it comes to magic XD

He is graceful most the time but he would probably get distracted by his own reflection on something or spot something/someone that takes his fancy...which would then result in him not taking notice of his surroundings XD He is a very intelligent elegant noodle...but not without his oblivious ditzy moments
psychosocial th-this is done in marker?!?!?! DUDE YOU ARE AMAZING AT THIS!! This is really rad, I love the scales, how much detail went into them!!
Yes this is all marker pen on paper - very pricey thick smooth board paper at that but you gotta be willing to buy the more expensive stuff if you want better art quality! I am actually still learning a few things about markers but I'm happy you like my efforts so far :D
I had no idea, nope! Though you are not the first to tell me something like this, Ryuu really has influenced many people - lots of people saying they weren't into lips/didn't know it was a thing until seeing him. Though I am most certainly not the first to do this sort of thing I am glad people like him that much. Thanks! <3
I think you'll like an animation of him I'm working on, the theme is...relevant, keep an eye out for that soon...
