After Oriale, Kiba/Hamato Miwa and the Viper, an unexpected member has joined the Ophidian Squad after been considered trustworthy: L'Miren of the Council of the Iconian Empire.
A mysterious energy being of a one-gendered species, L'Miren appeared in the NCIS HQ using an Iconian portal as an ambassador to offer an alliance with Commander Lizardqueen.
The Ophidian Squad, and by extend the NCIS, caught L'Miren's attention during operation Wolf's Den, where Oriale, secretly backed by "Viper" and Miwa, successfully managed to infiltrate, copy precious documents and escaped from one of the major european HUBs used by various "villain" organizations, Castle Wolfenstein.
Spying from subspace, L'Miren tracked down Oriale to the NCIS HQ and began to observe its agents, learning about the VEIL threat and the NCIS' failure to share the technology to counter it.
As the Iconians and their Heralds made a disastrous contact with a creature that shared too many characteristics with a VEIL, L'Miren suggested an alliance with the NCIS to the Iconian Council. With their approval, L'Miren was chosen as an ambassador.
Despite facing mistrust due to how Iconians can spy their whole base from subspace, L'Miren eventually proved to be reliable and M'Tara, the Iconian Queen, advised L'Miren to take a more active role to improve the NCIS-Iconian relationship, which eventually resulted in her being offered a position in the Ophidian Squad while the Iconians and their servants became a major power in Lizardqueen's plans to destroy the VEIL menace.
Arguably the most powerful member of the team with her ability to teleport anywhere at any time as well as being able to vaporize anyone with a wave of her hand and being impervious to most known weaponry, L'Miren is still highly vulnerable to anti-energy-being technology and can critically drain herself with her own abilities (especially her portals) if she doesn't have an energy source to feed on.
While immortal and not needing any conventional food to sustain herself, her interactions with the NCIS has made her willing to try and eat like mortals. She has even taken a liking to hot chocolate and now can't imagine a day without a few cups of the stuff. She despises coffee however, which has earned her a place on Midna's "people I hate" list.
While the Iconians were first mentioned in Star Trek TNG, DS9 and Voyager, they are currently only represented in Star Trek Online, as the ultimate villains, responsible for many many terrible things that have happened in this MMO and in Star Trek in general, including episodes of TNG (two episodes, even) and ENT. They also troll Borg, manipulated Species 8472 and destroyed the Krenim to show who's the boss.
And yes, that's not a joke, according to STO, they're also responsible for the creation of the JJ Star Trekverse, more precisely responsible for the supernova that destroyed Romulus and indirectly caused Spock and Nero to be sent into another timeline.
