It doesn't offer a lot, but I can't believe you're having a hard time getting clean, sharp lines! It's super easy!
Have you tried tinkering with the correction feature at the top? When you select the pen tool, look at the top, and there will be a drop down box next to the word "Correction". It works as a stabilizer to get smoother lines.
