this kirin is the host of a parasite contracted possibly from a magical mishap.
the creature will drain its carrier of their strength until they are too weak to oppose it leaving the intruder to take over their body, killing them in the process or if it's feeling particulary sadistic, leaving the victim fully aware but helpless, unable to control their own body anymore.


the only way to cure the affliction is to sever its power source it's feeding off: the kirin's horn.
doing so is extremely risky as it will leave permanent mental damage, the severity and the way it manifests depending from one individual to another. either way, it's extremely distressing and traumatizing. 'hollowed' kirins are pitied by others but nothing more.

should the kirin choose to suffer through it, they will inevitably mutate into an 'abomination', a danger to everyone around them.
