One of the 30 specimens that were expiremented on by Maztech's mysteroius Shadow Sector, Kaine is the result of 5 years of expirementation with the Razorcell Virus, which he was subjected to in hopes of crating an unmatched monster in close-quarters combat. Before the tests, he was but a simple canine, but years of torturous exposure has twisted him into a much darker, demented soul.
The virus caused his body to fuse in ways that were seen as impossible, causing the bones in his wrists to grow into large, metallic hooks that tear out of his own flesh, keeping connected to the rest of his bones by a bone-chain attached to them. After weeks of secretly learning how to control his ability, he discovered he can change them in any way he desires. As they started out as simply large, sharp hooks, he began to learn how to add disgusting new pieces, such as serated edges.
The Razorcell didn't just grant him these powerful hooks, though, as he also had razor-sharp tentacles housed inside him, which attached themselves to his spine. These tentacles could eject a strange fluid, putting their victims into a deep sleep, where they were subjected to their worst nightmares, causing complete mental breakdowns, and even death.
Maztech, realizing what they have created, has locked Kaine deep in their holding cells, far away from any form of life or communication. To them, this was the safest practice, but they did not account for the fact this gives the powerful canine even more time to hone his craft, and Kaine knows one day he will escape, and exact his vengeance upon all who had subjected him to this lifetime of pain and misery.
