Someone has to take care of these flowers
Just played through the true pacifist run on Undertale... and I have to say, I've never before felt so strongly connected to what is simply a video game. All of these characters became what seemed to be my friends, and watching it all go away left me with something. A life lesson really. But the one who stole my heart, was the little goat named Asriel. My little golden flower.
An amazing game that everyone needs to play, and I'm not just saying that because of the hype its getting. The gameplay, the story, the coding of the game itself, the lovable characters, and most of all, the memories that this game has to offer is nothing like I've ever seen before. My love for this game is immense, so much so, that I waited to buy the new Fallout until I finished the first run.
If only you could save him too...

Asriel's story was heartbreaking, and honestly, I wasn't completely happy with the way it ended. Like, sure, lets let this beautiful goat child just float forever as a psychotic flower that will be all alone in the underground with no one to talk to and most likely wont die. That... that makes sense.
I would legit have Frisk give their soul to save Asriel
Also, thank you very much <3

You and many other people (myself included) feel the same way. While Undertale is a fantastic game, Asriel's ending feels very out of place when put next to everyone else's happy ending. His final fate is one that even most supervillains don't receive in much darker stories. I believe TVTropes defines it as "And I must scream" http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.p.....AndIMustScream
The trope itself is fine to use in storytelling, but to pull it off on a hero character at the end of the game doesn't really mesh well with conventional storytelling. It makes their entire character arc ( all the sacrifice and pain) worthless in the end when ultimately nothing changes for them. Honestly, I would've been happier if he had just died peacefully rather than loose everything again and live on in a lonely, soulless purgatory for eternity. Of course, being able to actually save him would be the ideal situation!
Unfortunately that was the only part of the game where I was feeling emotionally manipulated. Granted, it totally worked, I bawled like a baby XD But it's kind of a cheep tactic to use against your audience to get them to feel. The emotionally depressing equivalent to a jump scare =P
Other than that, this is still probably one of my most favorite games of all time. And seeing art like this definitely makes my day! For what it's worth, I really love how you drew our little goat-bro <3 It's a great stylized interpretation!
I don't know if you've heard of Dreemurr-Reborn - http://dreemurr-reborn.tumblr.com/storyarchive but if you want a better ending then I think you might really enjoy this series. To me it felt like the only fan-work that actually could be canon. It's very well written and equally well drawn!

I actually have heard of that! That's honestly where I found some sort of peace in knowing that others felt the same way. Their ending was just beautiful. I cried a lot watching the short video they put out too. It was so well thought out and could easily be cannon
Exactly! I would just rather him have a peaceful death in knowing that his family was free, as was he. I just feel cheated with the "best" ending. Granted, the ending was fantastic, but it could have been better
In retrospect though, it wasn't a bad ending. It made all of its players feel something strong, and to be able to get that kind of emotion from an audience for a game with an art style as simplistic as it is, is outstanding. The game is, in my opinion, award winning. Its no wonder its getting so much hype.
If Toby was to create another ending, it might be difficult to interpret into the game. Even if it was a DLC though, I would be more than willing to pay for it. Anything to save poor little Asriel. He didn't deserve it ;^;
