Besides it's a fairytale, you know they always have horrifically dark backstories to them if you do the research. Bird Princess was probably the victim of systematic abuse or some shit, but when she became a bird full-time she ended up in the dove equivalent of a harem and was no better off. BECAUSE FAIRYTALES TEACH YOU THAT EVERYTHING IS PAIN AND HAPPINESS IS A LIE D:<

I'm ashamed to say that I didn't notice even Kharma's eyes change color when he casts except under burden shining red by default.I thought changing colors with no efdort meant having someone else's mana(like all the magey villains likely have here) as most mages were only shown performing a single spell and I didn't link it to mean the spell not the caster.
Also just now I realized that Lida is likely a transgender due to the mane and shifting magics.

Yellow is the natural colour of mana, so it's the colour that a Sourceror's eyes glow when they're just standing about, as they're channeling mana constantly. When any magic-user casts magic, their eyes glow with the colour most closely associated to the type of spell being cast. :3
Also Lida is female by all standards, and wouldn't consider herself otherwise - some 'kin are born with hair, some aren't. (Although from a social standpoint there are the usual close-minded bunch of eejits in the CnC-verse who would make comment about her being 'man-like' for having hair.) She just also happens to have the ability to give herself a ding-dong. :B
