Okay, totally love this hat... Any particular pattern you used, or just made it up as you went along? I could ask at least a dozen questions, but the main ones are "Is that top down or bottom up? and "Wow, how'd you manage the increases/decreases so neatly?" I've been crocheting for 8 years now and I can't spot any increases or decreases. Awesome work, and any info or suggestions you feel like giving me would be appreciated.
all my hats are top down and i use a pattern that has 6 stitches in the first round and 6 more in each additional one, so it goes 6, 12, 18, 24 etc for each round. this hat is 48 stitches around and fits about right for most people (not me and my giant head :P ) once i get the round bit the size i want, i just go straight down. when you mash the hat on your head it goes round :D
Hehe, you're not the only one, I have a hard time finding hats that I haven't made for myself. Thankfully, my husband is also cursed with a large cranium, so we can swap hats.
And thank you for the quick reply! I think that will actually be incredibly helpful... Once I finish with gifts for the holidays, I'm going to have to make one of these... And you've also gotten me hooked on the comic. (Pun not intended!) I actually stumbled across your work when I did a search for 'scarf' and found your version of the infamous Doctor Who scarf (which my husband wants me to knit sometime, though crochet *WOULD* be much faster!) I'm going to watch you, simply because I'm that much of a yarn addict and your stuff is awesome ^_^
