The very first time I've participated in this, and I get assigned one of the hardest kinds of anthros for me to draw: cetaceans!
So, I cheated. ^_^
This is me as an orca. The flippers have been anthro-ized a little, partly inspired by Brin's "Uplift" series. I retained my rat colors, and even as an orca am prone to buck teeth.
Yes, the sky is dark grey on purpose...this is supposed to be a winter theme, and the arctic in winter is very dark indeed. When looking at pics of icebergs (That's what the green stuff is), I was taken by the greenish hue that they have, & tried to bring that out here.
I colored with my substandard markers, and it shows. I'm starting to think that there's no amount of 'getting used to' that can be done for them to perform well--they're just substandard & will do a substandard job. :P
