THANK GOD I'M BETTER AT DRAWING NOW
but seriously i don't blame my haters for hating my popularity; i worked very hard for it but my art DEFINITELY didn't deserve the attention it got. But, without it, I wouldn't be where I am today. Can't wait to hit a million pageviews!!!!!!! I knew I could do it, even if my art still isn't exactly what I want it to be, I'm happy it's better than what it was, and I will be proud my art took me so far. :)
Also, curiousity! Ru told me that I was no longer in the http://popufur.net ranking and I was just wondering as to why this is if anyone knows. I don't care but it is a little confusing why I was fully removed from the list. It gives a bad vibe that the list is doctored. If I was singled out that's cool, honestly I could really do with just a little less attention. :) My art's all over the internet enough as it is. I have friends coming to me all the time telling me a person freaked out because my friend knows me personally. It's cute, but as a quiet person it gives me a small smile and an anime sweatdrop. ^_^; It's something I have to deal with (and to be fair, I didn't think being popular would be hard to manage when I was young, then adulthood social anxiety set in, FUN TIME FOR ME)
I should write a guide on how to get attention with your art. I know that sounds kinda funky, but there's a quote that speaks true, even if it might feel awful to read at first: "It's the motivation of the artist to seek attention of some kind." I've made a lot of mistakes on my journey, but that's my favourite part! I can help guide others to avoid making those mistakes, and if they really have to be made, how to deal with them properly. Being an artist is hard, but it doesn't have to be. After literally a decade of drawing online, one of my idols finally said to me that they were a fan of my work as well; and that was the biggest, most important goal in my life as an artist: to be recognized by the person who fueled my inspiration for years, as well as telling me to keep following my heart. This message is framed beside my computer and I read it every day and every. Single. Time. I. Feel. Like. Shit. Because that letter is all the proof I need that I followed my dreams and I can keep getting better at chasing them.
Sorry for patting my own ass in front of you guys, I just want you to know that I wouldn't be the artist I am today if we didn't work together; your support (ALL favourites, comments, and watches go VERY FAR!) and my love of seeing people love my work as well. I haven't ever really done anything for me as an artist, it's always been to show and share, which is why my work has fine technique but it is a little bland in composition and structure. I think sharing my deepest, most personal feelings isn't something I can being myself to do with art; it's like making love, and as I'm sure all of you know, I prefer to keep that stuff private, intimate, and to myself. :) I just wish my art was as honest as I am, and I think that's where we conflict.
I'm actually starting to feel like maybe art wasn't what I was meant to do. Sure, it's a nice skill, but I like talking and making art of language, as well as helping people and speaking messages of truth that resides in all of our hearts... So my next step has to be a storytelling of some kind... I know I keep saying that, but have you ever had a fear of success, or just... don't want to do it simply because you KNOW you can... like I'm not challenged. But I don't know that because I've never written a comic online! But I have intense faith in myself. My writing and candid chatter is nothing in comparison to the beauty of time that can be captured in words. Writing is time, art is space... That's all you need for a new world!
Are there any writers out there with helpful fantasy, storybuilding references? I want to write a feral comic, but I know it would be so difficult to do that and be successful with a wide audience as with a "human" character. For the message I want to give the world, I need something more relatable to the world, but there aren't enough animal-writing resources online that makes the human-animal connection that I want to express.
anyways whatever I'm ranting in hopes someone will rant at me too!
Anxiety is stupid, I hate how I'm half proud and half sick of who I am. BEING AN ADULT IS SO FRUSTRATING.

Self appreciation and awareness is important, your not patting you own ass :) it's healthy you regonize your success and growth!
I feel like the next step in your art journey would be a comic defiantly and having a human character in it would not hinder that. So don't even worry about that! Furry artwork is not the entire world. Growing an audience outside furry is important!

Falvie definitely was there before tho, and the watcher counts suggests that at least the current users showing up have been very recently updated (so has page layout) - I checked mine and it's only 300 watchers behind, which means they updated a month or less ago. They may be slower adding new users to the list however.
I'm surprised they're active again.

I'm looking to get somewhere with my art personally. I wouldnt mind getting the attention you do xD Sucks you got removed off the list though. I wonder why :/
Anyway. whether you are on the list or no (Ive actually never heard of this list @.@ ) I'm sure you'll get the same amount of attention because youre a pretty talented artist x3

I've been watching you grow for years and you have DEFINITELY earned every ounce of attention your work has gotten. You have been and always will be an inspiration to me. I've been at the commission thing for about 5 years now and honestly, I'm ready to quit. When you don't have an audience there isn't much of a point to uploading art. So I would definitely appreciate a guide on how to get an audience. Sometimes I just feel so down about my art and wish I was a talented, popular, and vibrant artist like you. I just feel like a green eyed monster sometimes and I don't know where I'm going with this but your rant stirred up a lot of emotions in me so yeah.
Ok, storytelling:
Do you know those types of books that teach you the most fundamental ideas, ideas that you can apply to more than just the thing they were originally meant for? Bonus if these ideas are actually in small, little. lightweight books, read in a couple of hours.
For storytelling, it's "Invisible Ink" by Brian McDonald. A slim book.
(The whole office read my copy because it was such a good read. My best friend is using the theories for his 6-pannel funnies and theories about talking to strangers. If my stories fail, if people don't listen to me, or if some of my author-friends fail with their stories, it's pretty easy for me to make a checklist of McDonald's theories and trace back what went wrong.).

I read this just now and thought to myself. An artist such as yourself, worried she is not in the industry
she should be in? It shocked me somewhat. I myself struggle with the confidence to keep going in art
and this made me realise even the best artists in the world doubt themselves, their ability or dislike
where they are with their art even when others see they have reached what we might see as perfection.
Maybe I just hadn't realised or considered, we are all wrapped up in our terrible anxieties and self
depreciation.
I think its remarkable for you to be honest with us and voice your self awareness, appreciation.
Its so healthy for you to recognise your own worth and ability.
Its interesting to witness these feelings and together experience these issues as it happens to all of us
and we want to feel more fulfilled by exploring other areas of expression. Story telling and writing is a
wonderful way to go and I'd certainly be excited to see you do some research into comic writing and
drawing. This next step honestly sounds like a good one and I am really proud to follow you through
your journey.

I always liked this quote" Rejoice, O young man, in your youth; and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth, and walk in the ways of your heart, and in the sight of your eyes: but know you, that for all these things God will bring you into judgment." Ecclesiastes 11:9 Anyways what message are you trying to tell with your story; just follow your heart? I think once you get a nice message down the rest of your story will fall into place. Go from the general arc of what you want, to the general setting, ex( a village, a town), to scenes within that town. When constructing stories it's better to start from top down; like art, you start with cubes and basic shapes and go down to the details. My problem is I don't know when to stop when going down. I feel as if i need to describe something or a scene in like a million ways, so I have a whole page of so and so pouring milk and how that made him feel. XD If you really need help with ideals just bounce them off your fans once in a while, or friends. The problem with that I think is they won't necessarily be honest with you... A few might. You got to use that gut feeling! I'd suggest looking at how movies are storyboarded, it's essentially the same thing when you're writing a comic. You can get away with movie like things, like atmosphere due to the extra medium you're dealing with. That's why when directors are doing adaptions of graphic novels to movies they can almost do it word for word and scene for scene, like Zack Snyder's adaptation of Watchman which was pretty much word for word. I remember being like damn son this is really close to the book! Anyways I hope you find the advice you need! I'm more of a traditional writer, essays and debate works more then creative writing, so my advice may be all wrong. That and I'm a bit dry, like I drank to much liquor before bed and my mouth is all dry. Also if you find anything out about getting rid of angst give me a call, I'm turning into a emo as of recently. The older you get, the less you know. Self doubt almost inevitably looms larger and larger.
The most important thing is to keep pushing yourself, keep doing things and to be bold in following what you truly want to do. Any good artist needs to keep pushing themselves. It's a journey, and you can always learn more and get better.
You want to do a story with feral characters, but are worried about the viability of that idea? Ignore your fear, be bold and put your heart and soul into it, you have enough talent to do it and blow away peoples expectations and win converts. If you have the idea and don't do it who will? It's a chance to push boundaries, and those edges are always the most interesting and exciting places to be.
I say go for it!

Honestly even your old art that you consider "bad" I still see it as good, sure you've improved a lot but it's not like you didn't deserve getting attention for making good art I mean isn't that how every artist gets? They start making art and they aren't that good at first and yet they start getting a few followers, later on the atist keeps improving and getting more followers, commissions etc until they're "popular" and amazing at art! I say don't fall for those who say you didn't desrve the attention they're probably jealous!
Anyways if you ever did a journal, comic or drawing on how to get more attention on the arrt we make then I'd totally give it a watch!

If you feel like writing a story, just go ahead and start. That's always the hardest part.
I'd love to see some writing from you, as you've already proved you're good at getting ideas across (see the above description), and you're good at coming up with fun little scenarios that could lead to larger scenarios (I would love to hear the backstories to some of the stuff in your scraps, even if it's just a little one- or two-paragraph anecdote :)
As far as comics go, I would love to see one from you ^v^ For references for storybuilding help, though, the only writers I know of tend to write on strange subject-matter, so not sure that'd help.
In general, I think it's a good idea to try out different forms of art: trying to make a story with a narrative could help you learn more about composing a piece to tell a story on its own, and your existing experience with visual art will probably help with imagery in anything you write.
(also, I think it's kinda funny that you're apologizing for "patting your ass" in front of us on a piece where Falvie's obviously not apologizing ;P just a funny little coincidence ;)
Being half-proud and half-sick of yourself just means that you'll constantly try to improve yourself...forever........even when it's not plausible to do so anymore.....yeah, anxiety sucks, but at least it prevents stagnation :j
[/rant-back-atcha']
PS: yes, your art has improved quite a bit: it's gone from great to even greater :>

You are such an inspiration, seriously. This old art is good, and your new stuff is absolutely amazing. i love seeing how much artists improve.
It would be EXTREMELY HELPFUL if you wrote a journal or something about how to get attention with your art. PLEASE DO THISSS
Also, I would for sure love if you made a comic omg please do. JUST DONT STOP ARTING AHHH

Your art is beautiful and this piece is no exception. This is lovely! While you have to follow the path in life that makes you happy, you do have an amazing talent for drawing and artwork that can't be overlooked. Even if you feel art wasn't something you were meant to do, it's definitely something you can do very well.
Firstly, I must say that this was insanely inspirational and literally gave me a huge spark of hope.
Not only are you one of my idols, but you are the same like everybody else. Odd to say. xD But popularity
really does have people think differently about others.
It must have been crazy cool to have your idol say those things to you!! I think the coolest thing for me was
to draw Allycat from Sunstone for Shiniez and her favourited the picture. I flipped shits. xD
So I can see how it is inspirational to read such words from someone you look up to. It keeps you going.
Ooo, writing is such an art, oh my stars. <33 And to put art with it is magic. In all honesty there are different techniques
for comic writing. My idol does it differently than most. He draws everything before he adds the words. He feels it has a better
flow and gives the characters more life rather than sticking to a solid script.
Fearing success can be a rather unsettling thing and anxiety has to be an ass and make it even worse. Either way, you can do this.
Just look at the piece you written to your fans already! Its perfect. :3
I have written all my life really. Used to make short stories, poems, small novels, and role play constantly so I am fairly good
with script writing and such. I really wanted to make it my profession.
To be honest I have been wanting to make a comic or short story about humans and animals but work and home issues are constantly
bugging me so I have little time to write it all down. Perhaps I can help you figure out what you wish to express since I have been
wanting to do something similar. Its up to you.
Never mind anxiety. I got that poo head myself. You pretty much just need to beat it up sometimes. :3
