Toriel's species proper is "boss monster" - but in the launch trailer she was replaced by a live action goat (combined with a terrible CG version of her character) in one shot. However the feet are quite correct for what we have of her in actual game art.

Since she's the tutoriel part of the game, and takes care of the main character during that, giving you a bedroom and food, (and there's even the option to ask to call her "mom" at one point), and would rather you not face any danger or trouble, she's affectionately referred to by most as 'goatmom' :B
