One of two pictures to show up before I work on my final product. I do not dare claim that background. That marvelous background is a shot of Robotropolis. for those of you who don't remember it is just one of the many beautiful hand painted backgrounds from one of the best Saturday morning cartoon shows when I was a kid: Sonic the hedgehog. the SatAM series. Not the shitty one, the good one. the one that had a bitchin' opening theme and a dark brooding, in-depth storyline.

now that i look back yes it indeed was one of the better shows from my cubhood days, and i can say that without it being through those damned rose colored lenses we are so often plagued with.
as for your latest work, i have to say she is beautiful, the colors are very well shaded and highlighted, what i like most and i hope this dose not make me sound like a pervert is her bust the new addition covered with the vest is a nice improvement, she remains cute and dignified while still looking well..<blush) sexy.
though i have to admit something disappears around her ears like the shading was left out mistakenly, that's just me but it kinda contrast to the rest of her coloring.
and i cant tell for certain but her eyelashes or her eyelids i should say, I'm not sure if shes slightly winking or if one of them seems crocked too low due to her hair.
but over all i really like this female bodies are still a challenge to me.

Female bodies are still a challenge to me as well. and i was trying to use the background that I picked as a basis for the foreground shading. this was something that was brought on by something me and a friend discussed last night. I decided to try something that I had not done in a long time and that is the reason the background is not my own.
hmm i think i see what you mean by using the background as a basis, you were using the natural lighting to determine her shades right? i have t say that's a rather clever idea. normally I'm somewhat against using existing backgrounds or such for my works unless its for a digital protect, i'e school project graphic design, not that I'm bashing you or any other artists that dose this, i just like creating my own backgrounds, <smiles) but that idea would help greatly in shadowing and natural lighting, thank you for the idea. as well as the sketch artist webclass sight you posted, a great find indeed.
I was experimenting with a particular background that I remembered liking alot in the show. I have actually drawn that scene of Robotropolis a few times.
normally I do create my own backgrounds, but this was my experiment. Another person who uses this method is an artist who I admire the art of: Ursula Vernon. AKA the creator of the LOLWUT pear; it's sad that such a ridiculous meme was her 15 minutes. but I am, of course, just one person with an opinion.
Her art is beautiful in that she does do her backgrounds before her foregrounds. I remember her talking about it some time ago on her self-masturbatory website. I don't know if she still uses that method. She also goes on and on about how purple is the best color to use in just about anything biological, but I digress.

Dude, I wasn;'t intending offence.
I like SATAM, but I've just noticed with annoyingly increasing frequency that certain anti-intellectuals seem to think that it's really, realy, really, smart, when it's on the creative level of a 13 year old's fan-fiction.
This whole misconception that SATAM was somehow dark and serious and morbid just frustrates me.
