This lurker skulks about in swamps..boonies..rivers. it is about roughtly 9 feet tall standing. it is a lazy hunter and preffers its dinner to come to it. a fisherman sits in a boat nearby..it is dusk, and only getting darker. he pays little mind to the croc that lazily floats past. its bit, but if you dont bother them they dont bother you. but he is poorly mistaken. his boat is violently tipped over and he is thrown into the brisk cold water, for a moment he sees a flash of the gator. its eyes bright with intelligent intent. the man scrambles for shore and immediately spots an old beat up iron lantern. he grabs it instinctively and flashes it towards the water, just in time to see the gator coming to shore. he feels on edge about the beast but he felt safe on the shore....up until the beast rears back onto powerful thick legs, and presents its full heaight. elongated arms hang dangerously at its sides, like that of a mans. with wickedly long curved talons on each scaly finger. in abject horror he clutches his source of light and runs sccreaming into the forest...
..the monster lumbers lazily after. a shame that it is far to dark now for the man to see where he is going.
this Shadow lurker so enjoyed the petrified screams...he was not worried about it getting away..because it was soon the man would tire fast and become slow.
and he did just that..having only enough energy to weakly thrash and cry out when the beast finnaly caught up, unhinged its jaw with a sickening poping sound.....and swallowed him whole..

they stalk in the shadows, and feed on peoples souls before devouring their bodies.
the more terror they instill in the person, the faster and more they can feed on their victims souls.
they all come with their own unique lantern, the Lantern posesses a special flame that is actualy sucking the soul of the one carrying it.
they dont eat often, but when they do. they pick a victim and they give them the lantern

the beast gives them the lantern and so long as it is lit...they will not harm them
but the only way to fuel the lantern is with fear
so they literally force them to be scared, because they think if it goes out they die
when the flame dies out when the person either runs out of fear, or is ready to be eaten
and either way. once the flame dies...you die
it enjoys the long hunt, and they tend to keep to the shadows. their skin is sensitive to the suns light so they are most active at night. they can manifest from any shadow, day or night.
