A mouse is born into "slavery".
They grow up to worship paws, get trampled, butt dropped, etc. Hell, some of them aren't even forced into it, it's completely up to their owners how they threat their little... slave? Pet?... Family member? They aren't much hustle to take care of, they can be easily put down if it comes to that, feeding doesn't cost much either, and they don't leave much "trash" behind.
But a kangaroo?... in a mouse society? Where can you give it shelter? In your tiny living-room? The garage? Maybe a warehouse, that's probably a bit smaller than its own room was before it was captured.
Was it even captured? Why would mice keep kangaroos?
They don't. She was the only of its kind left alive after the revolution. But why was she spared?
Her former mouse "slave", -one of the main strategists in planning the takeover- insisted on keeping her, "sparing" her from being slain, unlike everyone else she knew: her neighbors, friends, even her own parents.
The young little kangaroo always used to treat her little companion nice: she'd protect him from bullies, other kangaroos, even keeping his secret hideout between the 2 of them, he'd say they only go there to relax.
Her trust soon started to fade in Mousy (as she'd call him) when in the middle of fight they brought her by his side, leaving her with the view of the once called neighborhood now being flood by her own kind's blood.
He did not want this, he was truly adoring his cheerful, protective "owner", but taking care of a mammal 5 times your size is not easy. And then he had to keep the one condition that came with keeping her: no tail.
Kangaroos need tail to keep balance and execute powerful double-paw kicks. Without it, she could barely bounce anywhere without stopping to gain balance.
She was moved into a cold warehouse, barely reaching the size of her own room, with a bed at the wall and some toys they saved from her stuff. She spends most of her time in there. Where'd she go? Take a walk in the tiny neighborhood just to get yelled at? She can't go to school, she wouldn't fit. There's not much to do while Mousy is at work, even if it was weekend, she wouldn't talk to him anymore.
Her little Mousy died to her.
Meh, I put my own OC in there, maybe something you can relate to more, "Mousy" is a fictional character, I'm not pointing at anyone specifically. Whatever.
