The shading looks a little messy but the rest of it is decent :)

Indeed it is, but then, this is my absolute first time trying something like this. Maybe if someone teaches me how to shade better (I'd need someone showing me in real-time) then I might get a better idea of how to do it. but all in all it's not horrible, I think some things came out well like the hair.

Are you going for soft shading, multiple layer shading or simple normal cell shading?

Amber uses 2 layers ( or 3 ) For shading I think.

What you are doing here is somewhere between that and soft shading ( using multiple hard brust strokes to create the illusion of soft shading. ) Anyway, I gather that you could always just look up some tutorials, I certainly should X3

Good luck with improving on shading, but I guess you might want to focus on the drawing first and go for shading later :b
