donryu has drawn a lot of Rooth, so his absence in the Rooth'roo's adventures in coffee series stood out. I asked to commission him, showed him this idea, and he was ALL OVER IT!

Donryu I think outdid himself with this one! The composition is well arranged, the atmosphere is terrific, and he lent his inimitable style to the background elements to really tie the illustration together. I am particularly entertained at how the dappled flowers on Rooth's hawaiian shirt sort of camouflage him in the dappled sunlight coming down through the tree there. Pretty sweet. :)

So this would be the part of the sequence right before Rooth takes his first sip of the dosed coffee. (or was it the bagel that was dosed?). The "fun" is about to begin. ;) To see the rest of it, go to one of these spots:
