Throughout his tenure in the PCA, Daniel Blackwood was one of those quiet kids who just seemed to keep getting noticed without even trying. Being born into a family with many generations of Lucario lineage not only made him look a little different than the other Vulpix kids, but also affected his fighting style as well. Rather than the wild firestorms that many Fire-types employed, Daniel's blue-tinted flames proved to be much more precise and focused, something that would eventually be his trademark.
While graduating with honors secured himself a place in the Viridian Amateur Battle League, one of the most well-known local battle leagues in all of Kanto, neither that not the things that got him noticed in school seemed to be enough to get him noticed by the talent scouts for larger leagues. Even after six years and a successful nine month championship reign, he noticed that the lesser skilled but more flamboyant fighters seemed to be the ones who moved up.
It was about then that he decided, since he had already beaten them he may as well join them.
He only had to look as far as a family photo to get inspiration for a new persona. All it took was a new hairstyle, a little fur coloring to re-create some familiar markings and a catchy stage name, and after only three months of fighting as "Vulpicario" he had offers from every regional league in Kanto pouring in.
These days Daniel is known as the poster boy for the Victory Road League, and while he wishes he could have gotten where he is on skill alone he's not going to complain much. After all, if the fans want to see Vulpicario (especially the female ones), then what's the harm?
(Thanks to
crossdog367 for giving the the inspiration to work on this and helping hash out a few ideas for his background. :3 )

Flamboyant = entertaining.
Entertaining = viewers.
Viewers = ratings.
Ratings = money.
The flamboyant and charismatic will always get the high, visible spots because they're interesting and bring the 'ooh aah' factor. One could be the best fighter, but if he's as dull as a post, people will just pass him by. Sad truth.
