Exploring, experimenting and building up confidence, this is something I started for my good friend Wiggleshark ( http://wiggleshark.tumblr.com/ ) of their character Vulp Selach (who is a shox--a fennec / shark mix for the curious.) This is the first time I've tried painting a background, as well as the first time I've tried painting a body as well. Basically, everything I'm posting in scraps is liable to have a lot of firsts--but I've been feeling pretty stoked about noticeable progress!
This one is actually a work in progress because I still intend to revisit / tweak / do more to finish it, but I figured I would upload it here as it presently stands while I continue to learn and improve with other work. Once I've got more technique down, I can try to give it a proper completion.
Edit: I've been taking a lot of screenshots along the way while drawing these things and thought it might be fun / potentially of interest to folks if they got to see a kind of 'time lapse' of my learning / iterating process. Here's an animated gif for some of the main beats on this one: http://i.imgur.com/ta9dxYR.gifv
