I never really understood doodling (I'm not an artist), but I do understand that feeling of just playing freely on the piano without a care and all for fun (Is a musician). Is it kind of like that? Just wondering.

I don't play music, but sorta. There's different kinds of doodling.

Sometimes I do these nice drawings and call them a doodle and people don't get why. It's because I did them freely and for fun, it doesn't always mean they're quick and badly done. But there's also doodles like this, where it's just doing random stuff, not at all trying to be good or just doing shapes, letting your hand do whatever. For you, it sounds more like the first type of doodling.
