Lorek stood in a tall building that housed his Corneria Apartment looking out a window sipping a hot mug of grey tea. It was in the early hours of the morning and he was watching the City’s citizens interacting with one another in the rain as they tried to go about their business and not worry about what was going on in the Lylat System. He could see the huge screen of the news being played and a repoter talking about yet another threat that had arrived to Lylat. It seemed the no matter what was done Lylat was somehow always ending back up in turmoil. The Lylat wars had hurt everyone greatly with planets and lives being devastated in its wake. He himself played no small part to make that happen. Once the war was over he had heard about both the betrayal of Captain Shears and the Suaria incident both investigated by Fox McCloud and thwarted. Both events were found to be attempts to resurrect his former employer Andross. Apart from those two events there was relative peace in the system that was until Adross’s nephew started a rebellion that was crushed by not just Corneria Defense Force but also the arrival of a dreaded Apparoid.

Apparoid Invasion as it would come to be known as. Lorek had to stop his black-ops duties to get involved in that one. It didn’t end well for him either, as he got partially infected in the final assault of the Aparoids homeworld. Lorek shuddred when he relived the effect of starting to become like the aparoids. It was thanks to both Starfox and Starwolf Teams that he had come out of that at all alive. He could help but smile as he thought about both Fox McCloud and Wolf O’Donnell. Then he turned his mind back to what was going on now. A new threat had emerged and once again had come from Venom. That was most likely going to be the reason he was called to come for a meeting with the New General Peppy Hare and also meet with Retired General Pepper.

After his trial Lorek had been sent to work under the command under General Pepper as a Black-ops agent as per the sentence he was given. He worked doing the dirty things that no good established high and might government wanted to acknowledge that they did get into. He was sent out to handle the corrupt and sinister side of life. This was also very fitting considering his family background. He was actually the younger brother of the notorious Wolf O’Donnell. While Wolf ran things in the Y sector he would also become a crime lord in his own right. He did so to keep crime under acceptable control to what the government wanted. The government also assigned him to be one of their troubleshooters to eliminate problems in various ways when they arose. This was all done in to preserve the peace and maintain everyone’s freedoms. That was the truth of his sentencing. He snorted at the last thought of that. “What good men and women cannot.” He put emphasis on ‘good’ the most but he had said it louder than he intended to.

From his bed a Tigress named Eris stirred from her sleep yawning widely displaying her sharp white teeth. She rubbed the sleep from her eyes and sniffed the air then smiled, “I hope you made more than just that one cup.” She said sitting on the edge of the bed the sheets covering her almost nude form. Lorek himself was just in his briefs “ No I did not this is my first mug of tea.” Eris was in her late twenties Lorek being years older than her. He had been in a relationship with Eris for a couple years now and had developed feelings for her that was shared mutually. Eris was also part of the Cornerina military and had served with General pepper on some occasions piloting his cruiser.

She stood letting the bed sheets drape around her nude form like a toga. She smiled reaching up to kiss his lips and in the same motion stole his cup of tea. “ You brat.” He chuckled as she winked walking away to the bathroom with his mug. His smile was lost when he heard a chiming sound coming from his desk. He walked over to his dresser putting on a simple black T-shirt along with a pair of grey sweats then walked over to the desktop and tapped it. It was an incoming call from High Command… “What a surprise. Couldn’t leave me alone on Vacation ” he grumbled. The moment the screen came up an agent spoke to him, “ Commander O’Donnell your presence has been called for to meet with General Hare Immediately at CDF head quarters.” The the transmission was out. He scratched the the back of his head thinking why would the New General want him. Then Eris’s own communicator sounded and she dashed out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her to answer it. He instantly knew something was up from the way she looked. She grabbed a remote and flipped the channel and there it was. Headlines of a new Force of Terror was attacking the system once more.

Lorek put a paw to his forehead rubbing it as he watched the videos of what had attacked other cities and places around the system. “ For the love of life why the hell doesn’t this System just stay peaceful for at least five years but no! Now we got to deal with this shit!” he growled. Taking off his sweats to dress into his officer Black n gold trimmed officer’s uniform. While Eris got her own Intel Uniform on , she smirked , “ Well if there wasn’t turmoil in the System, we’d be out of a job Stud.” She said the put her boots and was out of the room. He followed when he got the last of his suit on then walked with her to their garage but found a some personel waiting for them. Waiting for him was more like it. “Apalogies Sir General Hare sent us to take you to him immediately.” They saluted motioning to follow them. Lorek looked at Eris whom smiled , “See you later Love.” She said then got into her own skycar and flew it out into the air. He followed the soldiers into a transport and it took off.

It was a good ten minutes as the sped through the sky towards base he watched as fighters came to escort the transport. He shook his head at that thinking that this now labeled the unarmed transport a target real smart. Thankfully the base soon came within sight and they landed on it and touched down. He was directed to a part of the base he was not expecting to see the medical wing. There he looked at the soldiers that had already been in a fight getting patched up or covered over. From there they took him to a bungalow that was located just outside of the building through a court yard. It was the new home of Retired General Pepper. Lorek opened the front door to see Pepper and Peppy hare talking to one another and he walked into the home. It was a three room house, one great room that comprised of a small kitchen ,dining room and living area. The other two rooms were assumed to be the Master bedroom and a study he assumed which had shelves of memorabilia and books. The two General were sitting in the Living room upon his arrival. It was the aging Peppy hare that stood to greet him first and they shook hands and then it was Peppers turn. He gently shook the old hound’s hand as he had been through a lot and his health he learned was failing him fast. “Commander O’Donnell we called you here to help us deal with this new threat that has arisen. These invaders call themselves the Anglars and have been found to come from the planet Venom from the depth of it’s acidic seas. Pepper here has informed me of the idea of which you both came up with should a situation like this occur. Normally we’d have called the Starfox team. However due to recent fallout… it is not as strong as it once was only fox is left to track down the rest. I’d like to hear this idea for myself.”

Lorek did his best to keep a straight face but couldn’t help but feel the very edge of his lips curl in a grin. Starfox team had been the team to go to when stuff like this occurred. They were all so eager for their hero to save them and he knew that one day the Starfox team would not be the ones to save the day.

“That is correct General. Pepper and I both knew that one day…. No offense that the Starfox team would not be there to save the day. We needed to have the military create a backup plan. We need Battalion comprised Shock troopers, Commandos and the best pilots this system has to offer. However this group needs to be as ruthless and tough as the Starwolf team. I was taking to the Pepper about all the men & women that have done terrible things looking for a chance at redemption like myself. Who know what the final score needs to be and will do things that others cannot fighting fire with fire. The Reason Andross conquered the System so quickly was because of the talented ruthless, fanatical people he brought under his command, promising them a chance of revenge or glory. Some I know did it for better if misguided reasons to try and make the System better. So he told them. I myself was in it for the glory at the time, but now having this life of redemption suits me far better than I could have ever believed. This is all very do able, most of it can mainly funded by black operations only little bit of resources will have to come from you. This can all be done off the books and also be kept quiet from the media only the military need know of this. What’s more is I already have everything in place for it to be implemented. All I need from you is the go ahead and I promise you that you will not regret this.”

Peppy Hare sighed and sat down heavily in a leather armchair next to Pepper whom sat in his wheel chair next to the old rabbit. Pepper took a slow wheezing gasp of hair “ I believe in what Lorek has planned and that it can work. Lorek is proof that it can… The counsel spared him to do this and he has succeeded where others have failed. Let him make this response team.” It was hard to believe but Pepper somehow mustered some strength to stand shakily with Lorek’s help and placed a frail hand on his shoulder looking at Peppy. Peppy stood and nodded holding out his hand to the two men. “ Very well any resources you need I’ll see about giving you along with your new authority Commander but I want progress reports. I’m trusting you on this, don’t let me down and make me proud that I stand with you on this.” At this Lorek couldn’t help but smile and nodded , “ Absolutely, I will not fail you.” He said and they all shook hands.
