Fusion has been reprinted in three volumes, this being the third. By About Comics. The collections include all the shorts (but no Weasel Patrol). For those not in the know, it was a SF action adventure, a bit like Firefly, but done 15 years earlier. The first story arc was an adaption of a screen play by Steve Barnes, with art by Lela Dowling and myself. Subsequent major stories were largely written by me from outlines by Lex Nakashima. There were also various shorts by a mix of other artists and writers.

I imagine they would! I know Haven was 'in heat' (I think?) but I assume by the time the proto-nuptials came about (with the Prince's sisters raising protest, broken up by Beo) her mind was a bit more on the clear side. By then, once she knew she had conceived, I suspect it was at least somewhat on her mind. Indio was her only little one (as far as I recall from the comic) before the wee bits were born!
Complications aside, being related to a reasonably powerful royal family might be an asset in and of itself. But complications would be there, of course! ^_^

I hope I'm not overly forgettable! o_o Hee, is all gut. Although I liked most of the main characters in Fusion (I didn't flash as much on Herrick, as I came across 'Fusion' after 'The Soulstar Commission' and his death, but he was still ossum in hindsight) I found that Beo was the one who reminded me the most of certain aspects of myself; big huge critter who made a point of staying sensible and not picking fights or looking for trouble. I'm not an engineer, mind; my brainworks might have been good for it, but it's not something my software could handle. Brain having Photoshop instead of AutoCAD. ^_^ But Beo I could empathize the most with, I think. If he didn't have decent food, he tended to nod off, for one thing (recalling 'The Devastator Affair' and Tan 'waking him up'). I can't subscribe to having the instincts and specific body needs of a large modified theropod, but again, what I picked up about Beolvoch reminded me a lot of myself.

Ahh, one of the golden oldies, and my favourite furry comic at the time. I think I managed to get all of them, they're in a box here somewhere.
"Morwood"... is that Peter Morwood? I'd forgotten he'd done anything on Fusion, it's been a while since I last dug them out for a re-read.

Man, I loved tht comic. Even wrote and laid out a script for Lex about a different crew. "The Treasure Hunters". THe script needed a bit of a rewrite but a case of my nerves killed it. the picturesof Tsurukh in combat arour are thelast vesties of that project,=

I Was buying these and Critters and Erma Felna as they came out. I was so sad when all of them eventually stopped. It is what inspired me to make Wild Frontier though.

Ah, one of the greatest gems that grace my long box. I've got the entire original run. Fusion is fondly remembered as one of the highlights for me of the black and white alternative comics boom of the late 80's. So much more interesting stuff than the four color superhero books, which were armpit deep in X-mania at the time. I won a cloisonne pin of Tan from one of the contests in the letters section.
Thank you for taking part in Fusion's creation, sir.

Hummm, well I should mention I guess that I have been looking into trying to buy up the rights to Fusion. Me and an artist friend have been kicking around the idea of trying to produce the book again. It had extreamly good story and artwork, also the chars where rather nice.
Haven is still my fave.

Why buy when you can steal? No, that's not fair, but it does seem to be the more typical process. Trying to restart a property after so long with an all-new team doesn't sound like a good idea- odds are that either it will come off feeling like a lame retread, or go so divergent as to have nothing but name in common with the original. And Lex isn't likely to let it go.
*chuckles* Who said that I was going to use a new team? I allready have at lest one artist that worked on the original onboard with the idea, and I was expecting that you might be interested as well. If only to see Haven back in the limelight!
Just trying to do things right, wich means I need to get the rights, or, at lest, have them go public domain so that I can use them legaly. Not interested in stealing anything, I want to do it the right way.

Oreally? If I seemed dismissive, it's because I hear fans pop off with grandiose schemes all too often. If you are serious, have you talked to Lex? And do you have any thought as to where you might want this to go? The thing was very much Lex's baby and the major story arcs were his ideas. Just as important, do you have a business model for it?
Are all the cover images also reprinted in these? Because some of those were gorgeous.
I have all the issues, started buying from around 7 or 8 (the first two were difficult to find), but since I also have the Dr Watchstop collection (twice, one hardcover signed found in a small shop for nearly nothing), I should look at these too.
Definitely among the most interesting comics of the 85-95 period.

Name recognition is likely the major point, except for maybe Foglio, as we are all faded stars to greater or lesser extent. Though my glory-hound side wants it to be known that I really did a lot of the work. Along with laying out and co-inking and most of the tone work on all the stories that I did with Lela, I also adapted Steve Barn's script and wrote all the Lela and I stories. On the other hand, I'll owe up to the awful "First Command" that I shat out in the back of the Spring Rolls collection.
Ah, yes, Mr. Phil Foglio. I wonder what ever happened to him? Oh, yeah; I've got his Girl Genius bookmarked for the M-W-F updates. Between you, me and the lamp post, I think he married the girl genius. I met Phil 25 or 30 years ago, during a book signing at a now-defunct bookstore in a town he'd probably as soon forget.
Great! I would really like to get another copy of the story where the main human character got to be in the Diplomatic corps briefly, and got dismissed for "Spreading a Viscous Roomer." Oh wait.. That one might have been a spin off in the Weasel Patrol "Stand Alone" comic.
Ey, finestkind! ^^ I think Fusion was and is my favorite anthropomorphic comic of all time. (Or perhaps more accurately, comic with anthropomorpics.) You first caught me with Albedo, but Fusion set the hook with the crew of the Tsunami, the Weasel Patrol, and Doctor Watchstop. I've even got a copy of the old 'Take Off' 'zine somewhere. Great stuff! I was sorry it didn't fly further.
Bittersweet memories. Like a lot of other fans at the time, Herrick was my favorite character. Killing off one of your main characters can backfire and mortally cripple a promising story or comic. Just look what happened with Game of Thrones. I still wish someone would bring Herrick back.
