I already have a headcanon for new episode pony. She has slight bladder control issues, so she's advised to wear diapers by her doctor. However, her manager didn't let her wear diapers during her performances and public acts as not to give an image of being a baby, forcing her to just go to the bathroom and not drink whenever she had to attend some performance. After she got rid of him, she started wearing them more publicly.
