Iron Blade, Onyx Claw is a fantasy story that takes place in another world. The peoples of this place are all anthropomorphic, with the primary race, Dragolin, being an anthro dragon, the Xalaz, bobcats, Fauli, deer, Leonin, lions and other big cats, Fae, which are just faeries and skyfolk, and assorted other races that roam as tribes. All of these are locked in an age old conflict for lands and resources, with most of their battles taking place high above the ground on the backs of winged creatures. The woody terrain of the place hasn't been lived on by any of the organized species for centuries, although by now most of them have forgotten why and just know they have a fear of it... but when that deeply buried terror begins to physically manifest itself and no longer be content in keeping to the shadows, will the peoples of the world be able to band together and defeat it? Or, will they stand divided and be devoured?
This was the first story I ever started work on, and it's become abundantly clear to me that I have a greater ability to build a semi-realistic, futuristic, or purely sci-fi world than a fantasy one. Because of this, this project will be put on the backburner and maybe picked up later.
This is the first chapter, in which we see the many different species assaulting the city of Flamehaven.
This is the audio version of the previous submission, for those that have no interest in reading and prefer to multitask.
