Hey sluts! Guess who's doing vocal for Cannibal now?
That's right, all I had to do was cut the brakes on Fisher's Miata and I was a shoo in.
The boys understand there are going to be some changes around here. Afterall, I didn't much care for 'KILL'. We need to get back to the original vision of Cannibal. Engineered perfection in the studio means nothing to me. I find perfectly executed Death METAL to be quite boring in fact. So many bands these days seem to think that being technically perfect is all that matters. Nothing gets the blood rushing to my cock like the sound of five furious madmen trying to abuse my ears with a brutal wall of distorted guitars and screaming.
Oh... and the band is going to have more of a leather, spikes, and chains motif from now on. I know that sex sells. I AM sex. It's just comes natural to me.
Look out, all you artists in the top 10. If we cant outsell you, we're going to flay you alive.

Yer dead right about the over-producted, super technical trend in metal right now. Not that I don't appreciate these values at times...but what really counts is power, and conviction. Everything else is just gravy.....mmmmmmmmmmmm.....graaaaavy.....
But seriously, I'd much rather listen to an old Celtic Frost record, like Morbid tales, than 95% of everything else coming out now. Bathory is some seriously gnarly stuff too.

my point exactly!
I just think some bands lose sight of that. My old drummer, for example, used to be all about trying to be as technical as possible on every part, to the point where the groove would just be lost, and thus, the heavy was compromised.
I suppose everyones got there own priority's, but I'm old school I guess. I beleive above all else, metal should be dark, and heavy...whether that warrants a technical approach or a meathead approach doesnt really matter in the end. Nile for example, is very techy, but goddamn, do they just sound evil! Mayhem, on the other hand...very basic stuff...but also just as evil.
Guess it doesnt matter in the whether you use the precision of a katana, or the blunt force trauma of a mace....so long as you slaughter! And thats where I feel some of the newer bands lose focus.

I like guitar solos in Rock and Heavy Metal and all that. Don't much care for guitar solos in Tech Death METAL. Seems redundant since a lot of the riffs are just so damn complicated in the first place.
I prefer a pounding bass solo or even a short breakdown so everyone in the audience knows when to fucking kill each other.
I'm not too picky though really.

Sorry, I kinda grabbed the word 'power' from your previous post as a method of relating to you musical tastes. That obviously threw me off track.
Interestingly enough I did look up these musicians on youtube. I'm not sure I watched the right videos though as they don't seem to be METAL at all.
Not METAL. I don't have anything against it, it's really lovely. Though, from a METAL standpoint it would get you lynched.

Not METAL. Notice a pattern yet? This DDR shit aint METAL!

This is the closest I found. Sounds like Nu-metal to me. sounds like their single, hoping to get on the Billboard top 200 are they?

I hope there are no hard feelings. The stuff I saw on youtube was catchy enough I suppose, but there is no reason to compare it to any death metal (or any sort of extreme metal for that matter).
...and let's not get into the 'skill' argument. It's totally pointless to try and decipher which piece of music requires more skill. In fact, your selections may have a more classical composition but it doesn't sound like it requires a great deal of technical skill or originality to craft. Besides, skill does not a great piece of music make.

No hard feelings, but you probably don't have the right songs. It takes a careful ear to pick out the metal parts. One song from Celldweller you'll like is One Good Reason.
What i mean by skill, is that these artists are solo. They do each instrument themselves, including the lyrics. It can take months for them to release a new song, but every time they do it is fucking epic.
The electronic-rock/metal genre is rather new, i think its only been around for the last 5 or 6 years. I don't mean industrial metal, this is a new genre on its own. I'm not sure if you've heard the Devil May Cry battle themes, but its similar. I can link you to that soundtrack if you want.

I try to stay away from soundtracks movies and videogames both.
Solo artists aren't exactly a electronic metal phenomenon though either. It's pretty popular in black metal as well. Windir, Burzum, and Xasthur.
...and I don't think this new genre will ever be incorporated into METAL, at least not among METAL heads, same as Korn and Disturbed. All of the metal parts of these songs sound as though they are borrowed from nu-metal and the true blooded METAL fans shall have nothing to do with it.
No matter. I don't think these artists can even be compared to gory Death Metal the likes of Cannibal. The basic musical philosophy is too different. Why not compare Bach and Rancid? You can do it sure, it would just be a fat waste of time.
