I've always loved reason and the pursuit of knowledge anyway, and science in particular. Had I not been so creatively-inclined in my earlier years and not sucked so badly at math I might have pursued a career as a scientist. I loved chemistry in school, but hated doing all the math that came with it. So, to the arts I went.
