Hah! Anime tech-babble is nothing compared to the power of Trek-babble. I swear they could've done entire episodes of Next Generation which would've had LaForge, Data, Wesley Crusher on screen for the entire episode explaining how sub-space fields had caused Picard's toast to always fall butter side down! Yeesh! The only anime/ manga tech-babbler who can rival the great babblers of Paramount is Masume Shirow. We'll ignore Star-wars babblers for the moment.

Well, if you want some real-world silliness from that design, if you have a bore that's significantly larger than the projectile, the combustion gases will expand to fill the bore once the projectile enters, then produce a toroidal vortex from the gases behind them rushing up the centerline, so if you're not using a propellant that's completely smokeless you're going to get a perfect smoke ring out of the muzzle every time you fire it.

Physics be damned, the important thing is she looks good using it. :)

This picture reminds me of Ditzie Spofulam, from the Traveller fan-made company Familie Spofulam, which has a habit of making very very large weapons for the Third Imperium. Ditzie is often on the Proving Grounds, testing out the latest version of the FGMP-16OMGBBQ or such, weapons usually about equal to her size and twice the weight... kinda like here =D

Is it me, or does that weapon bear more than a passing resemblance to the sticky bomb launcher used by the Demoman in Team Fortress 2?
