heh, I used to get people asking me for commissions then when I tell them it actually costs MONEY, they are like, what do you mean, this costs money?

As much as many of us enjoy drawing, we do need some funds to cover the costs of stuff like pens, paper, and the home in which we live so we can use the pens and paper...

looks like you now have someone to add to your blacklist, or if you want to be kinder, put them on a tab, and don't let them get anything else till the debt is paid (even free stuff if you ever do free stuff) that's the way I see it.

This seems awfully hurtful to the person that sent it to you.

It's the same as hiring anybody for any other service, where it's clearly stated as a paid service, then after the job is completed, going, "Oh! I didn't know I'm supposed to pay for this!" It's money and valuable time since this is my source of income. I could have spent that time working on other paid pieces or traditional art for auction. There's my side of it.

You never really stated you started working on it, hell I don't even see why you would until you had a secure payment down.
Regardless, I still find my side to be justified just as much as yours.

Well, the person in question doesn't even have him on their watch list, so I doubt they will actually see this. However, if they do, then good. I hope they do feel bad. They advertise their skills at proof-reading but then do this sort of thing.

You're worried about them feeling bad... but not about the time wasted unpaid art? It's his Only source of income. While this won't break the bank it's less money to put towards rent, groceries, bills, or Christmas gifts for his 2 year old daughter.

So, yes, the "client" should feel bad, they should feel pretty damn horrible. As for it not doing Os any good, it provided a vent outlet which is actually pretty healthy.

No no no. This person accident or not is a thief, they stole Os time and talent for art and should be called on it. Most artists name thieves, the jackass is damn lucky he wasn't named as he should be.

Sounds like a good argument for getting payment up front, or at least a clear "This will cost you X dollars, are you ok with this and how/when do you plan to pay for it?" sorta thing
