Go read a page like Not Always Right for a while, you will find a lot of stories about instantly abusive callers who don't let the worker get a word in edgewise, (not even to tell them to call the company they are complaining about[1]).
[1] Or the fire department about their burning computer.

Protip: Being the one nice, polite, caller in a telephone drone's day can mean the difference between getting the absolute minimum and getting actual useful help and/or compensation. Even a supposedly powerless drone often has influence through how they enter reports into the system, (an "intermittent outage" isn't going to be fixed as fast as a "sporadic connection"), or in justifying a handoff to a specialist/higher tier support.
Not going to argue with that, but he counterpoint is that they are representing their company, therefore if the company is giving crap to customers, customers are gonna give crap back. These call people are the poor defenseless monkeys in the middle and its not fair. My parents only 1/20 times got anyone at a call center who both were caring and kind AND were COMPETENT.
So, let me ask you again, while it is not right to getting angry, what are the odds being nice is going to work? Who knows, it may very well differ by location. Its things like this that I like to point out, as to inform and to be informed, your presenting one side and I'm presenting the other, its a good thing. Helps remind us that its never that easy, but why does it ever have to be so hard?
Thanks for the reply, it always helps to try to be constructive!
