Now if Gryphon was actually competent there wouldn't be a problem in this quest. Sneak in, fulfill the quest and get out. One and done.

But he isn't. He fails and fails hard. And then he keeps failing harder and harder the more times he tries and tries again. The window of opportunity has already closed. Now it has been sealed, bricked over and then mined. Guards have been posted, reinforcements have arrived and everyone is on high alert. Smart people would have given up. The frail would have died long ago.

Life is a fragile flickering flame that sparks into being, sputters and dies out. A fragile existence that can be snuffed at any moment. Though the flesh is weak the spirit is strong and clings to desperate life no matter the odds.

He fails. But he keeps getting up and tries again. Even though his flesh is weak his spirit keeps him going. If you fail and fall seven times, get up eight. That is the cry of a soul on fire.

Barriers were thrown up and he knocks them down. Men went up against him and he strikes them down. Blood was spilled but it was spilled on both sides.

So the question becomes what breaks first? His will or the barriers in his way?
