It's a pun on the word endogenous which means of a single purpose, also it has the word dog in it.
It also makes sense in universe, despite being made from multiple monsters they still know that they are a dog.

in my opinion this is probably the least problematic amalgamate out of all of them (memory heads i'm looking at you)

The memoryheads made me shit a whole circus animal out of fear. And fuck me I was playing it at night. Also, like, the other amalgamates "remember" their pasts as separate monsters but the memory heads just give up and leave... meaning they're still there and unpacified. So what the good hell are they? They're obviously not a monster and they put shit in your inventory and call you on your cell phone. WHAT ARE THEY *shrieks*
