It's Hamtaro time!
(Kushi-kushi,Ticki-ticki,WHOO!)
Hamtaro!
When we work together it's much better.
My best friends!
We love sunflowerseeds krump,krump,krump!
My Ham-hams!
If he heads for trouble we won't let her.
Hamtaro!
Little hamsters,big adventures.
meranii-kaminski Part of our hamham art trade. I wasn't making much progress with my other trades, so we decided to do one with simple ham hams and it helped motivate me already.
Maybe I experiment too much because I think what I make will be boring otherwise. I really liked the picture at the top left (original sketch with extreme gamma correction) but I think if I submitted it as part of a trade it would be insulting, so I made a nicer doodle for her on the right.
I was messing up with lines a lot so I used dots instead.
the bottom left edit I also like better than the final product... but whatever. Time to move onto other trades, hurray for hams. :3

*Looks around confused* Holy hamster fuzz! Where is everybody?
Well, as I'm here now, I must say I like how you put the three renditions of Marani into this one piece. I especially like how each one kind of airs off a different attitude despite being the same image in each frame.
Personally, I've got to say my favorite of the lot is the upper-left. It's raw, gritty look makes Marani look like a rock star who just got done thrashing on stage and is enjoying a delightful serande of sunflower seeds. *krmp-krmp-krmp*
On a funny note, I don't know why, but the thumbnail image made me think you had initially done a ham-ham version of Mokuba from Yu-Gi-Oh! My mind works in such odd ways... *cush-cush*
Hey, now that I'm looking around some more, I wonder how only 6 comments could have possibly preceeded me? Either everyone missed this one while on holiday, or we have many a hamster-hata' among us. Down with those who are against the Ham-Hams!

Hehe, I don’t think hamsters catch as much interest with everyone. 8D I think I remember my other hamster submission didn’t catch much attention either, but it’s not such a big deal – I still got to talk to you and others about it! That’s the fun part. ;P
I liked them all too much to just keep em to myself! (: And that same upper-left picture was my favorite as well. I loved the bigger version too. There was just so much detail and bright color that I don’t think I had the energy to catch on my own. :3
I dunno much about Yu-Gi-Oh, but I think I remember a long, dark haired kid on the show. :B It’s a nice reference anywho! (:

I know how you feel. Personally, I have a similar feeling with my written works. I like my characters and settings so much that I want everyone to enjoy them. However, I am paranoid of getting ripped off. Though, after some research, I am not sure if I can even get my work published. My promise to you, and anyone else, is if I can't get published is that I'm going to FLOOD my page here with all I've got. As much as I'd like to be able to make a modest living off of it, I'd hate to keep it all to myself when I know others can enjoy it.
Hey, now that I mention it, what are your thoughts on that, Oxnard? You are an artist with a great deal of recognition for the work that you do. Have you ever held back anything in the hopes it could amount to somethimg more once you finished your collegiate career, or have you always been open to sharing your full talent?
I could stop there, but I have to make one more mention in that how it is nice to have fellow "Hamtaro" fans on here. We are few, but that's okay. Heck, meeting you and Winged Ham-Ham was one of the biggest highlights of my actually signing up for this place. Oopa!

I see what you mean. :3 I still hope you'd have some luck publishing (I'm still impressed that you perused it! That's more than I or other I know would do.) Though, I'm glad you'd keep it out in the public otherwise, that way it can still touch and inspire people, even if you might not be able to make a living off of it. (:
Mmm, I'm not sure if I've had a situation like that before... I know I built up a whole story and comic I was going to keep to myself until I finished with the whole thing I never got to finishing, or care to finish now, but nothing I really cared about career-wise. :B Maybe one day I'll either be able to relate more, or think of something else that can relate to it! :B
Even if we're scarce, that just makes it easier to bond, and makes us a special little group. ;P

Indeed, Oxnard. I do so love being a Ham-Ham fan.
Quite honestly, I'd believe you'd have a lot of potential if you were to professionally work with some of your characters out of the "Circle Saga." The emotional power behind each character / persona is something I'm certain others on a wider scale could bond with. Incorporate your unique sense of humor and I honestly believe you could develop a cutting-edge sitcom style comic that, given time, could even blossom into a deep and thoughtful series on a station like HBO.
*cush-cush* I hope I'm not being too presumptious there. I just get carried away when I get to thinking creatively. *cush-cush* However, seriously, I really think you have something with that cast of characters and the subject matter you tackle in your comics and art is often sincere and direct. Such honesty would certainly give you an edge if you ever wanted to pitch why you are better than the other job candidate along with providing a most fantastic example of how you aren't limited to typical, art-type fair.

Hehe, even if there's joy in numbers, there's still plenty of joy to be had without 'em too! :3
And it's really nice that you say that! :3 I mean, if Street Fighter plots don't stop people from playing the games, I'm sure maybe with a lot of tweaking, I could maybe make something acceptable too! (:
I think it'd be fun to see all our stories in a new way like that - on TV, books, cartoons, comics, songs, there are all sorts of different things. 8D Though, maybe I'm a while away from thinking of it in terms of a big production like that... but who knows, maybe some day I could attempt something like that! (: Even a small animated project like Paranoia Agent could be fun!

Indeed. Though, it really is odd how people seem to have such a hard time understanding your work. Then again, genius is often hard to figure out until after the fact. Perhaps your style and concepts are just too new and undiscovered for many people to get? In that case, you should most certainly take heart in knowing that you are one of those rare "outside the box" sorts. :)
<LoL!> It's funny you should bring back the brain-busting plots behind Street Fighter. How amazing is it that, in beating the crap out of a Thailand General, the answers to so many people's questions can be resolved? I wish I was that important. Then again, I wouldn't want a bunch of people from around the world trying to beat the crap out of me either. :)
Oh, here's another one for you. Have you ever watched the anime "Excel Saga?" That show has had its fair share of popularity in Japan and in the states. Heck, I even have a shirt for it. However, the show's plot is nill to non-existant. Add to the fact the main character has a nauseating voice and her cohort dies all the time and comes back to life and you have a totally bizarre and non-sensical piece of material. Though, despite its lack of logic (or sanity), people love it.

Hehe, there's that too... I'd probably have to work my stuff a bit more to make it understandable to others. If I'm lucky, it's because I'm smart, but it usually just seems like I'm just incapable, since it's usually hard for me to express myself the way I'd like. I don't know how much hope I have in that changing, but at least if I collaborated with others more, maybe they'd help make my ideas more clear. :3
I loved Street Fighter Alpha 3. Some stories, like with Guile or Cammi were touching, but then there was Zangief who beat up a bunch of people, including M. Bison, and then found an eccentric sumo master in his high-tech base, and they saved the world by destroying "that machine over there." Or Dahlsim's story, who does yoga in order to destroy Bison's base, and then goes back to India without anyone knowing how Bison's plan was taken down. I think stories like that give me hope, as charming as they are. 8D
I haven't watched Excel Saga, but some shows are just strange like that. :3 Then again, the plot isn't always the focus (like Street Fighter) sometimes people just need drama or looks and they'll watch whatever there is! Or like with .hack, there's always beautiful music and scenery if you don't like the story. (:

Hmm. You bring up a very interesting point, Ox. With some things it is really more about the colors, music, or other elements that make something special. Often, in all honesty, plot is a side thought over the overall experience.
Strong examples of this would be class NES and SNES games. Let's take the original "Super Mario Bros." for example. Not really a big story or activity here. You simply needed to "Save the princess." However, the game became legendary for the overall experience of being able to grow big with a mushroom, shoot fireballs at crazy turtles, and run down mushroom-shaped baddies after acquiring an invincible star. At the time, such ideas were quite radical in that they had never been thought of before. However, over time, they became video game legend!
In the case of your work, I firmly believe you have a very strong talent for drawing colors and playing on emotions through unique poses and situations that aren't, from what I can tell, traditional mediums. I guess the big question to ask is if you are trying to find a niche for your work, or create a new niche that only your work can define. Quite frankly, based on your artistic popularity and acknowledgements, I'd believe you may be more inclined to the latter. Perhaps, one day, people will look back at your work like they do now at that of Shigeru Miyamato and see it as legend where once such presentation never really existed?

Hehe, yeah! Plot isn't everything, I think experience and how it connects with each person is more important - and that could be done in many ways. :3 The ideas and feelings that come with such projects are a big part of it too, sometimes the plot is how they get some of those feelings across, sometimes it's something less story-based. And everyone can pull different feelings for it too. :3 There's so much possibility! Hehe.
I don't really know quite what I'm doing to be honest. :3 I think a new niche sounds more appealing, since anyone could try to fit into a certain something that's already there - and even if I did, I think someone could do it better than me. 8D I'd rather just let my heart take me wherever, and in that case, I'd hope it's something more unique to myself? :3 Any of us could be headed somewhere great! And in that case, any of us could have our work looked back on like Miyamato too. Even if you don't have luck with your publishers this time, you could be like one of those authors that has their work discovered far after ya make it. (: ...Though I hope if it happens to either of us, it'll be within our lifetimes like Shigeru. 8D
