My new furry best friend! Adopted him yesterday and so much in love with him. Caught a cute pic of him sitting there watching my son brush his teeth.
He's part husky, 5 years old and such a well mannered boy. He's pretty much typical husky. Full of energy for days, smart as can be and a total kissing sweetheart.
He's slowly become my shadow around the house already and even knows his basic commands.
I'll be seeking to get him certified as my emotional support dog and get him enrolled in Obedience training as well probably come January.
(I know the steps to get him his ESA, just gotta follow the steps lol)
If you're in the greater KCMO or KS areas and you haven't checked them out, go check http://www.greatplainsspca.org/
That's the wonderful place I got him from in Merriam and they are fantastic people doing amazing work!

An Emotional Support Dog(or animal. It can be a variety of species) is an animal you register to act as an emotional support to a mental disability. There are (from what I have found) 3 types of service dogs.
-Emotional support (no needed training but needs a letter from a licensed psychologist/therapist etc and then a certificate stating the animal has been registered. This certification will grant the animal no additional rights except to by pass pet deposits and breed restrictions in housing. Some places will also let you take the animal with you where needed but it's not legally required. ((for the US))
-Psychiatric service animal (This animal will need special training to help the disabled person with what they need. These dogs are trained to help persons with emotional trauma or disabilities so great it effects their every day function and living. They are classified under service dog certification, must go through all training to aid the person and are allowed almost anywhere and get the housing passes as well)
-Physical service animal (this one is for persons who experience a physical disability such as blindness and so on. These dogs also require special training and certification and so on. These are the dogs most people think of when thinking of a service animal)
